The 1st step to a reliable and safe hearth appliance is effective preventive maintenance. Whether you're burning wood, pellet or gas it is recommended to have an annual cleaning and inspection performed by a qualified professional.
As an expert in the field we make recommendations during and after the hearth cleaning service. We'll discuss any tips, tricks or findings that can help you throughout the burning season. We will take the time to demonstrate any functions/features of the system that are not known or completely understood. We're also looking for wear and tear parts that could be replaced before they cause a break down.
Our preventive maintenance process is specific for each fuel type, manufacturer and model.
Pellet Stove and Insert Cleaning Service:
A safe and efficient pellet appliance system is a clean pellet appliance system. Without the proper air flow you're not getting the maximum efficiency out of your pellet heater and fuel.
Although modern pellet appliances have safety devices inline, blocked air flow can still lead to hopper fires, incomplete combustion, excessive soot build up on outside of house, accelerated wear and tear on components, ETC. We make sure that the air path is clear from air intake to exhaust cap. We also make sure that the convection/distribution path (hot air pushed by a fan into the room) is clear. A blocked convection/distribution path can lead to overheating and nuisance shutdowns as well as accelerated wear and tear on the unit's components.
Our pellet appliance cleaning and inspection service always includes sweeping the pellet vent/chimney. Every service includes a test burn!

Wood Stove, Insert and Fireplace Sweep & Cleaning Service: Any seasoned New Englander is familiar with the relationship between creosote build up and chimney fires. Chimney fires are preventable through responsible wood burning practices, regular sweeping and inspections. Whether its an open masonry fireplace, wood stove, wood insert or wood boiler/furnace, NFPA 211 (National Fire Protection Association) and IRC (International Residential Code) require a minimum of an annual inspection. Our level 1 inspections include sweeping the flue.
We perform factory built and masonry chimney sweeps. Our chimney sweep service includes removing ash from within the wood burning appliance and glass cleaning. We'll also perform a Level 1 chimney inspection as per NFPA 211 and IRC criteria.

Gas Fireplace, Stove & Insert Cleaning Service: It is as important to get regular maintenance on gas hearth appliances. There are wear and tear parts in standing pilot technology. Newer IPI (intermittent pilot ignition) technology is susceptible to soot and sediment build up. We remove/clean the logs, wire brush steel parts, clean off thermocouple/thermopile and pilot sensors. We reinstall the logs per manufacturers instructions and create the best flame picture possible. Every gas cleaning includes refreshing the ember bed and glass cleaning to bring back the ambiance!
